In this training we will address:
- How the impact of cultural and family legacy burdens as well as personal burdens contributes to disconnection from core wisdom
- How our own burdens regarding weight and body shape/size impact the way we assess and treat our clients
- The importance of healing personal burdens and taking Self-led action to heal the systemic biases related to weight, size, health, and ability.
- How to use IFS to help clients shift from parts-driven to Self-led relationships with food and the body, healing parts of themselves that carry painful and extreme beliefs
- How clients can develop Self-led eating practices to incorporate into a more balanced and effective personal wellness plan
Instructors

experience treating eating and trauma related issues. She has written articles
about IFS and eating disorders and is dedicated to helping people develop Self-led relationships with food and their bodies. Jeanne is a Certified IFS Therapist in addition to being trained in Somatic Experiencing, All levels, as well as EMDR, Level 1 & 2 training

therapist and certified Internal Family Systems practitioner. Since 2011, IFS has been the primary technique used in her private practice for clients with a
wide array of disordered eating. She’s co-facilitated and taught Introduction to IFS for Nutrition Practitioners workshops, the IFS Continuity Program with
Jeanne Catanzaro, and ongoing independent presentations for those new
and experienced with IFS. She offers consultation to dietitians who have
completed Level 1 IFS training.
Learning Objectives
- Participants will describe the impact of cultural and legacy burdens on clients’ acceptance of their body and relationship with food.
- Participants will explain how IFS is used to help clients identify and connect with their parts that hold extreme beliefs about food and body.
- Participants will identify how therapists’ personal burdens impact their assessment and treatment of clients.
- Participants will compare the differences between parts-driven and Self-led beliefs and behavior related to food, body size, and health.
- Participants will design a personal Self-led eating and wellbeing practice
Workshop Outline
9 am to 10:30 am:
• How the impact of cultural and family legacy burdens as well as personal burdens contributes to disconnection from core wisdom
• Introduction/review of the Internal Family Systems Model with examples of how it informs recovery related to food and body concerns
BREAK
10:45 am to 12:30 pm
• How our emotional burdens impact the way we assess and treat clients
• The importance of healing personal burdens and taking Self-led action to heal the systemic biases related to weight, size, health, and ability.
LUNCH
1:30 pm to 2:30 pm
• How to use IFS to help clients shift from parts-driven to Self-led relationships with food and the body, healing parts of themselves that carry painful and extreme beliefs about food and their bodies
BREAK
2:45 to 4:30 pm
• How clients can develop self-led eating practices to incorporate into a more balanced and effective personal wellness plan
• Experiential exercise: participants will design a personal Self-led eating and wellness plan
